As Dean of the School of Engineering, Arts, Science and Technology, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Arts Degree Show website for 2021 – East Show.
The challenges of the last year or so have affected us all, but it has been particularly hard for our students who have had to work and study remotely for most of this time. Despite this, our Arts students, with the support of our magnificent teaching and technical support staff, have risen to these challenges and produced works of outstanding creativity now displayed in a digital form on this website.
To my mind, this show encapsulates the essential role that universities, and in particular our creative subjects such as those in the Arts, can and should play in all our lives. Regardless of the challenges we face – and they are many and varied – it is our students and staff, through their creative endeavours, that provide us with constant sources of inspiration, thought provoking challenges and genuine pleasure. I am confident that East Show will provide you with many examples of each.
